The Postal Service was the highest-rated agency in the latest public survey by the Gallup organization, deemed to be doing a good or excellent job by 74 percent, fair by 19 percent and poor by only 5 percent.

In descending order, the CDC, Secret Service, DHS, FBI, CIA, NASA and FEMA all were rated by above half as doing a good or excellent job.

In contrast, the VA ranked at the bottom, with almost equal percentages–38 vs. 34–ranking it as doing good/excellent work vs. only fair. The VA’s 24 percent poor rating was the highest negative score, with the EPA deemed to be doing poor work by 21 percent and the IRS by 19 percent.

Most agency scores have risen over the last three years, the organization added, with the biggest gains posted by the Secret Service and the CDC. None of the agencies suffered an overall drop in that time, it added.
